9 Things You’ll REGRET Not Doing to Your Car

Thanks again to Mobil 1 motor oil for sponsoring last week's video and hosting us at their Engine Test Center - since we like their products, we've included them in this episode too. Visit AutoZone to find the right high-quality Mobil 1 synthetic oil for you: bit.ly/38EvoLT
Great so you got your first project car, now it’s time to make sure that it is ready for some mods! Before we throw any new bits at our Mazda Miata we want to make sure that it is in good running condition and healthy. So, we will do some basic but very necessary maintenance on our project car and you should do the same. We will talk about and show you how to DIY change your engine oil, coolant, power steering fluid, diff fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. We’ll also cover air filters, fuel filter, belts, and spark plugs. Even if you don’t have a project car these are all routine basic things that you can do yourself to keep your car running for a long time and also save some money!
Money Pit goes hands-on in the garage with Zach Jobe as he shows you the fundamental principles of how cars work, and how to apply your DIY knowledge to your very own project car --all using our very own 1994 Mazda Miata.

-> Romans 10:8-14 KJV & " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13 KJV) } ANYONE CAN COME TO THE LORD NO MATTER THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES! Even a Sodomite can be saved, or those who are confused about themselves and/ or have done things to their own bodies. God has the power to save even those, Only if they come before Jesus Christ as sinners, broken and contrite. God will save them. God will guide them to change their ways in this life. God Will Lead Them to All Truth for He Saves Us. -> www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Romans-10-8_10-14/ " That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10 9 KJV) " And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mark 1 15 KJV) " I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13 3 KJV) God so LOVED The World. God Does NOT Need Us. We Need Him. Yet, for those who reject - Your damnation is Just. If you Don't Belong to Christ Jesus, You do Not Matter. You Are Nothing if you reject Jesus Christ. .-=~` -> “ Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” (James 2 19 KJV) -> “ And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:” (Acts 17 30 KJV) -> " Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31 8-9 KJV) -> " But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." (1 Corinthians 2 15 KJV) -> " Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." (John 7 24 KJV) -> " Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3 3 KJV) -> " For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature." (Galatians 6 15 KJV) -> " Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5 17 KJV) Note -> Those who are Saved Sinners are Spiritual. We are not Judged by Man, because we are Judged by God. However, Those in Christ Can Still be corrected with Scripture. A fellow in Christ has the right to Correct Us Through God's Word! Note -> Appearance doesn't always mean how one Dress, or Physically Looks either. Appearance correlates to Actions too, what one does in their life, and so forth. Good advice, although the HOW will vary greatly between each car. You really don't need to replace brake fluid very often though unless you are running (and really using) performance brakes. Fluid degradation is obvious in the feel of the brakes, it doesn't need done as a matter of course. Some of these, like the filters, get done during a standard service, so keep your car serviced at a good indy garage and you'll be fine.

You stated the W stands for winter on oil it does not stand for winter it's for weight and you talked about starting up the vehicle to put oil in the oil filter to see how much oil level is this is wrong you're supposed to put oil in your filter before you put it on your engine as much as possible unless your filter is mounted sideways and then that's a stupid design and you can't fill it

Rule #1 tho... wear gloves when diving into your car... eye protection when you're under, and even breathing protection if you're doing dusty jobs. -- They're annoying, yes... but it's way more annoying to end up with some cancer or rush to the ER because you got some transmission oil full of metal shavings into your eyes... I once doing some simple maintenance on my motorbike, while fighting a stuck fuel hose, I managed to spill fuel into my eyes.... wasn't much at all, but I wasted the next hour rinsing my eye with water. -- Not fun. Spend $20 on PPE, save the headache and thousands on medical expenses.

No mention of drain plug crush washers?! I've seen Jiffy Lube mess up so many times cuz of accidentally doubling up on those, or the old one leaking. Also the best think I've ever seen was when they didn't realize the O-ring on the filter itself was stuck to the engine, so when they put a new filter on it was rubber on rubber, and was just SPEWING oil when they started it, hahaha, the joys of watching those idiots was priceless when I worked 20ft away at the O'Reillys, hahahaha

My 2017 VW Passat has manufacturer oil change at 10,000 miles *Full synthetic oil. To me this proves how good synthetic oil is. And if you change your own oil the price difference is negligible! And worth it. What's really odd about the Passat is there (as far as I can fine). Zero Transmission service requirement, there's even no dip stick. It's 100% sealed and is supposed to last the life of the engine. This with the oil filter access on the top. (1.8L 4cyl turbo) makes it easy!

One of my best tool purchases was a power bleeder. So much faster and easier, especially when flushing out old, black fluid. Don't forget, you still have to bench bleed your master cylinder before you install it or you won't get that air out with a power bleeder, and it will take far longer with the old school method in this video because the air in the MC will have to travel all the way through the brake lines to the bleeder instead of just through a short loop before the MC is installed. The easiest one-man pumping method is putting a hose on the bleeder and the other end into a bottle of brake fluid, and just pump the pedal slowly until the air is out, checking the MC level and the bottle level often.

I feel like you missed a very important part about spark plugs which will effect many people with boost applications. When running high boost copper plugs are better. While they do burn out faster they also seem to produce a more reliable spark and won't get blown out by the boost. I have an a4 running about 26 psi and under boost with anything but copper it would miss fire and from a little research it seems like a common issue.

My only quarrel is at 11:16 he discusses the dry boiling point of the brake fluid. You really should be addressing the wet boiling point as it'll designate the scenario of the brake fluid after it's been used for a portion of its lifetime. As the brake fluid is used water gets in there and that's what the wet boiling point indicates.
