Back in Service After 16 Years - V12 BMW E31 850i Revival - Project Malaga: Part 2

Fast-paced, wrench action-packed revival of a 1991 BMW E31 850i that was left to rot in a garage for the last 16 years before I acquired it. In this video, we bring this mighty V12 back to life.
Towards the end of the video, I made a breakdown of parts and their cost. Also, in the end I give a hint of what the next M project car is!
P.S. I upgraded the camera so the video quality should be much better!
Part 1 -

I won't lie, this was great to watch. It reminds me of when I messed around with old cards 25 years ago. But it also reminds me of why I will never do it again, and wish I had never touched old cars in the past. It's OK if you're getting paid for it, but working privately on old cars is a complete waste of your life. These days I'll own nothing more than 10 years old, and preferably less then 5 years old.

I wanted a 7 Series for years. I did my research, talked to BMW mechanics, and did more research on blogs. The coolant leak @ 30:00 and the pipe is exactly why I went with an Infiniti M series. When a FedEx truck hit me head on and totaled it- I ALMOST bought a BMW V12 coupe to replace it. Instead went with an identical Infiniti M45 Sport this time. This video makes me glad of that decision. Lol Beautiful work and craftsmanship. You make it look SO easy. I’m hearing a cash register though. Haha Thanks for posting a great video!!!!

Welcome back to the second part of project Málaga, where after 16 years of neglect, this 8-Series is finally going to get some much-needed TLC as we'll bring all of its 12 cylinders back to life.

I really like the way he treated the interior, especially the leather and carpet. The carpet can't be restored by just spraying and vacuuming, after spraying, get in there with a damp terry towel and scrub it! Results will not be obvious immediately, but when it dries, it should look like new. If you aren't willing to burn up that elbow grease, then don't bother buying a car that requires restoration.

Such a pleasure watching someone with knowledge. I had my own experience with an 850 and a "professional BMW mechanic" lmao. After 3 months in the repair shop, they called saying car is ready. It ran for 3 hours and they said not to bring it back as he confirmed this car was beyond his experience/knowledge. Unfortunately, at that time I was young and didn't have any knowledge myself so the car ended up being picked up by the NYC sanitation as it was parked for months on the streets. Sad to know such a beautiful rare car was forever gone as the city crushed it :(. Really wish I had it now.

Just a fyi. Although those repairs are improper. A fuel tank unless having a leak allowing air in will never have enough air to cause ignition if spark is provided from the fuel pump. As a matter of fact all fuel pumps actually use the fuel as a form of cooling! I didn't know it either until a really old mechanic with 50 years of experience explained that to me after i questioned why the leads on the pumps dont have shielding where they connect.
