Binging with Babish Cooks Simpsons-Inspired Steamed Hams | The Burger Show
Underholdning
Binging with Babish recreates one of the most iconic and endlessly memed burgers in cartoon history: Steamed Hams from The Simpsons. Drawing inspiration from the regional steamed cheeseburger in Connecticut, Babish steams his first burger, while host Alvin Cailan flips the script and invents a steamed patty melt. Did we take this joke too far? Probably! Internet, this one's for you.

The chips on the burger gave me vibes back to this local burger joint in St. Albert, AB called Jack's Burger Shack. They have a burger called the BBQ Crunch where they put orange soda bbq sauce and lays on the burger. It's so good.

Chalmers: Well, Seymour, I made it- despite your directions. Principal Skinner: Ah. Superintendent Chalmers. Welcome. - I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon. Chalmers: Yeah. Principal Skinner: Oh, egads! My roast is ruined. But what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking? Delightfully devilish, Seymour. Singers: Ah- Skinner with his crazy explanations The superintendent's gonna need his medication When he hears Skinner's lame exaggerations There'll be trouble in town tonight! Chalmers: Seymour! Principal Skinner: Superintendent, I was just- uh, just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise. Care to join me? Chalmers: Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, Seymour? Principal Skinner: Uh- Oh. That isn't smoke. It's steam. Steam from the steamed clams we're having. Mmm. Steamed clams. Principal Skinner: Whew. Superintendent, I hope you're ready for mouthwatering hamburgers. Chalmers: I thought we were having steamed clams. Principal Skinner: D'oh, no. I said steamed hams. That's what I call hamburgers. Chalmers: You call hamburgers steamed hams? Principal Skinner: Yes. It's a regional dialect. Chalmers: Uh-huh. Uh, what region? Principal Skinner: Uh, upstate New York. Chalmers: Really. Well, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "steamed hams." Principal Skinner: Oh, not in Utica. No. It's an Albany expression. Chalmers: I see. You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at Krusty Burger. Principal Skinner: Oh, no. Patented Skinner burgers. Old family recipe. Chalmers: For steamed hams. Principal Skinner: Yes. Chalmers: Yes. And you call them steamed hams despite the fact that they are obviously grilled. Principal Skinner: Ye- You know, the- One thing I should- - Excuse me for one second. Chalmers: Of course. Principal Skinner: Oh well, that was wonderful. A good time was had by all. I'm pooped. Chalmers: Yes. I should be- Good Lord! What is happening in there? Principal Skinner: Aurora borealis. Chalmers: Uh- Aurora borealis at this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country localized entirely within your kitchen? Principal Skinner: Yes. Chalmers: May I see it? Principal Skinner: No. Skinner's Mother: Seymour! The house is on fire! Principal Skinner: No, Mother. It's just the northern lights. Chalmers: Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow but I must say you steam a good ham. Skinner's Mother: Help! Help!

Steam cheese burger I want to try this
But they were obviously grilled
According to Lou, a Krusty burger with cheese is actually the same as a quarter pounder with cheese.
calafornia man: i created a nation wide concept canadian boy scouts that have been putting chip on their burgers since they were 8: summer camp did it better
Oof
chips on a burger definitely isnt anything new. chips on hammy sammy's, chips on grilled cheese, chips on EVERYTHING
An old family recipe, coming straight outta Albany🤣
If you never tried chips on a burger you missing out.
Shoutout to Louie's Lunch!
I always thought the steamed hams episode was where they would buy a quarter pounder from McDonalds and lie about coming up with it themselves. Also they burn some clams first. Then we see the aurora borealis.
you know that you fucked up bc they are obviously grilled. no but fr they are grilled
I swear I heard Seymour say 'steamed clams' from the aurora borealis kitchen.
You steam the pan
You gotta steam it right!

Babish, the house is on fire!
Dang named well, Steamed Patty Melt but next level with designed meat grind but imagined it was great
I know steamed hams are a lot like krusty Burgers which according to Louie is just like the Quarter Pounder from McDonalds. So steam that burger to not make it a lie. So now whoever reads this is ready for an unforgettable luncheon.
Why is there no seasoning?
They steamed the ham but in the episode they were obviously grilled 🤔
Banish is an idiot for just putting the patty in there. It should have been in a round ramekin to hold in the juices. And he should have toasted the bun. How this guy is so popular on NOlocal is beyond me
wait is Babish listening to Captain Beefheart?
In the steamed hams clip the superintendent says something along the lines of “and you call them steamed hams even though they are quite obviously grilled?”
Using beef stock for the steam would do next to nothing, since it is water that evaporates any flavour in the stock would NOT be evaporated away. Such a waste.
cringe
Well Babish, I made it. Despite your directions...
That short rib burger seems wasted being streamed
Great video
And you call them steamed hams, despite the fact they are obviously grilled.
Bimbish, now make a sausage!
chips on burgers is not new so no revolution there XD
im hoping one of you guys accidentally burned your cooking and decided to get Burger king (has the grill marks) and disguise it as your own cooking
And you call those steamed hams DESPITE the fact that they obviously don't have grill marks?

Captain BeeFart
In 1982 at a family cook-out, I got a burger off the grill, put the ubiquitous lettuce and tomato on it but since I didn't like real cheese, I put a handful of Doritos on my burger and was savaged by my cousins that thought it was disgusting. I loved it! Flash forward 38 years and I'm totally vindicated with Alvin's steamed ham! (If you're wondering, yes I did make the Dorito burger again because it was delicious but also because it grossed out my family.)
Burgers and Babish ... what more do we need?
Well... Second one is not a burger, it's a sandwich
Steamed Hams, but not pork? Babbish & Burger Show, I am disappoint.
white castle will steam them if you ask them to. old school trick.
ive been doing chip burgs for like 3 years
I've been putting potato chips in my burger since I was a kid
Don't let this distract you from the fact they burnt the roast
Don't worry Babish, it doesn't look great either.
You can make a simpler burger that tastes better and be vegan
Bobby Flay does chips on a burger at his restaurant.
Steamed Hams Inc.
The fact that this show exists in my life time is a godsend
No attempting to climb out the window, setting the house on fire and claiming its the aurora Borealis, c'mon guys authenticity! Then again the chips on the burger has to be the game changer here 🤔
I've been doing chips on burgers for years but I always use Doritos
I used to make hamburgers with white cheddar spicy sweet chili Doritos and a little ketchup it was amazing. But I'll be honest I was really stoned usually
They forgot the grill marks
