Here's how Santa was handled in our house. Mom told us if we didn't believe in Santa we didn't get gifts. We're in our 40's now....Santa is f*#@in real and you will never hear me say otherwise.

One Christmas, i was 10 yo and my brother 9 yo. We spent Christmas at his Godfather's family. I open my gift first, key chain with girly chapstick and mini toys attached to it named "Princess Jujube" (jujube is is like gummy candy in french), i was really more into boys thing and alternative rock. My brother got a F****ING DS mario special edition !!!! all the photos we see me in the background after that, i was angry, didnt have fun. I got my DS soon after, i saved up money from my birthday and christmas to buy it. my mom was so proud of me, she bought me 2 other games for me when we paid for it. And guess what, i played my DS until i bought a 3DS and still played it sometimes and my brother only played it for time to time not for very long, dont know what happened to it

Anybody else bothered about them misspelling christmas

When I was eight, my tooth fell out, But the toothfairy didn't come, so I asked my mom why. I then heard her telling my dad she forgot to put money under my pillow. She said "Maybe the toothfairy forgot or ran out" I figured out the toothfairy wasn't real and got mad because my eight year old self thought my mom was a liar. When I felt better I realized that they movie Rise of the guardians had the toothfairy in it. And santa. And the Easter bunny. And more. Which lead me to the conclusion that if any mythical creature had any sort of "magic" or you didn't have proof it was there, It wasn't there.

okay...you asked for it... on christmas a couple years ago when my brother was 13, he went outside in the snow to play football with one of our neighbors he was friends with. i stayed inside where loud obnoxious mariah carey christmas music was being blasted from our tv. so i was playing with my presents and next thing i know my brother comes back in with what looked to be a gunshot wound to the chest. his hands were near the wound and he had blood all over him. everyone was screaming. then i realized something was sticking out of his chest so it couldn’t have been a gunshot. turns out he was sprinting to catch the football, not paying attention to where he was going and ran straight into a tree. the thing sticking out of him was a little twig that had pierced his skin. so he had to be taken to the emergency room and when he got back home he was really tired but also embarrassed. the reason he was embarrassed was because the twig pierced his nipple. to this day he has an X over his nipple from where he had to get stitched up. i don’t think he minds the scar anymore though. i think he thinks it’s cool or whatever. how’s that for a chaotic christmas story?

When I was a kid I got the xbox 360 day 1 for Christmas. I was so excited because now I could play games online and I already had like 3 games I could play. Although, when I tried to hook it up I got the dreaded red ring of death on it. We called Microsoft and we tried everything. We ended up sending it out for repair, but it wasnt repairable at all so I had to wait like 3 weeks after Christmas when Microsoft sent me a new one and all my friends laughed with their new systems

My Santa-isn't-real realization was so similar to Damien's (5 yo, immediately extended it to the other fictional figures) except instead of Barney I just happened to hide my gifts for my parents in the same closet they hid 'Santa's' gift to me that year- a rainbow unicorn plush- and I put it together on Christmas day when I opened the gift 'from Santa' that I found a month earlier... when I asked if he was real, my mom asked me "you want the truth?" LMAO And then added the caveat that I couldn't spoil it for my friends and classmates because that's just cruel!

My sister had a very similar finding out to Damien, she found out before the rest of us because she asked my mom. But unlike Damien, she was DEVASTATED. She just kept naming off the other things and got sadder and sadder. She was asking about tooth fairy first, but when she got down the list to Santa she was inconsolable.
